Export of Russian sweets: new achievements

Sales of Russian-made confectionery products for export in January-May of 2018 increased by 17.1% to 177.3 thousand tons and set a new achievement for supplies in physical terms. In value terms, sales of Russian sweets for export for the described period amounted to $ 342.2m.

The most significant in terms of value is the segment of chocolate confectionery products. Sales of sweets of this kind in January-May of 2018 amounted to $ 170.8m. Chocolate confectionery is the most dynamically developing segment in the export supplies of Russian sweets - for five months from the beginning of the year their sales increased by 30.7% to 74.14 thousand tons. The most 'weighty' segment in kind was flour confectionery. The volume of export supplies of these sweets rose by almost 11% to 81.5 thousand tons for $ 137m. Finally, sales of sugar confectionery for export in January-May 2018 increased by 2.2% to 21.7 thousand tons to the amount of $ 46.3m. This segment has lost its customers abroad over the past year, but since the beginning of this year the situation has begun to improve and the growth dynamics has become positive.

"The current export sales figures are the most successful in the history of the supply of Russian sweets to foreign markets," said Executive Director of the Confectionery Market Research Center Elizaveta Nikitina. "Separately, it should be noted that the main suppliers of sweets for export are mainly Russian, and not multinational companies operating in Russia.
