The New Year is still far away, but the Rosselkhoznadzor has already made a 'gift' to Russian pork producers, having removed the ban on the import of Brazilian meat from November 1.
Permission to supply will be issued to ten Brazilian companies. The representative of the Ministry Yulia Melano said that the Brazilian side has eliminated the previously identified violations. This was confirmed by laboratory studies of products. In this connection, restrictions on the supply of pork and beef are lifted.
Before the ban was introduced, Brazil was the leading supplier of meat to Russia. In 2014, the share of Brazilian exports increased due to the food embargo against Western countries. And on December 1, 2017, the Rosselkhoznadzor imposed a ban on Brazilian pork and beef due to the discovery of ractopamine (used to accelerate the growth of animals). The use of this substance is prohibited by Russian law.
