Data on pork imports to China for the first nine months of this year show an increase of 43.62% compared with the same period last year, reaching 1,325,700 tons (923,053 tons from January to September 2018). In September, imports reached 161,826 tons, which is 71.6% higher than September 2018.
The latest data released by the Ministry of Agriculture of China show that in September the pig population decreased by 3% compared with August, and by 41.1% compared with the same period last year.
In India, the pig population has declined by more than 12%, bringing the total number of pigs to 9.6 million heads.
