November 30, the final selection of the projects of the UMNIK-2018 Program in Omsk region took place. 33 young researchers aged from 18 to 30 years competed for a grant in the amount of 500,000 RUR ($ 7515) on the implementation of an innovative project. Omsky Biocluster acted as a co-organizer of the event.
The event was held at the site of the Omsk Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch (member of Omsky Biocluster). The representatives of the legislative and executive authorities of the region addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. The moderator of the competition was the Deputy Chairman of the Omsk Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch, Coordinator of the Collective Use Center of Omsky Biocluster, Maxim Miller. The winners were 15 contestants out of 33, five more contestants made up the reserve of the Omsk stage of the contest.

"Thirteen members of the jury evaluated the speeches of the participants for more than six hours. The competition turned out, sometimes participants shared hundredths and even thousandths of a point according to the results of the final assessment. We are waiting for the results of the approval of the results of the competition by the Federal Commission of the Fund in early February 2019. We invite everyone who failed to get a grant this year to take part in the competition next year!"
