Preferential tariffs for railway transportation of Russian grain should be in the future, said Russian President Vladimir Putin in his message to the Federal Assembly on March 1. "We need to work on the issue of extending preferential tariffs for rail transportation of grain for the period after July 1, 2018," the President said, considering this mechanism an effective method of supporting agro-companies and curbing a drop in the growth of grain prices.
Earlier, the first deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Dzhambulat Khatuov, spoke at a meeting with participants of the Russian rail freight market. Khatuov said that the planning of cargo transportation of the future harvest should begin in March. This is necessary to improve the efficiency of Russian grain logistics. At the same time, he pointed out that in the situation with the increased volumes of rail transportation this year, the grain of the existing number of grain-carrying wagons is not enough to ensure uninterrupted transportation.
In addition, D. Khatuov noted the importance of developing deep grain processing, as well as increasing the volume of export supplies of this product. "The strategic task is not to buy up and store, but to create conditions for export of surplus produced goods for export," the first deputy minister stressed.
Also, Putin called for continued work to increase the capacity of Russian ports. In particular, United Grain Company JSC is considering the possibility of building a specialized grain terminal in the Baltic. This was stated in Moscow by Nikolay Arkhipov, executive director of the company for transport logistics and investments.
