The Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China announced the introduction of duties on 128 American goods, stressing that this step should be seen as a response to the decision of the US administration to raise tariffs for imports of steel and aluminum.
"For 120 items, including fruit, the duty will be 15%, eight items, including pork, - 25%," the document, published on the website of the Ministry of Finance, said. The Ministry also noted that China "supports the multilateral trading system," and countermeasures are "fair and consistent with the principles of the World Trade Organization."
It should be noted that Russian manufacturers will not be able to directly benefit from the current situation, since meat from Russia is not allowed to be imported to China today. Moreover, experts are afraid of tougher competition in the markets because of the possible influx of released quantities of American pork.
