Q1 2018: export of agricultural products grew by 25.9%

Q1 2018, the export of agricultural products in value terms amounted to $ 4.7 billion, which is $ 960 million more than in 2017, or by 25.9% (excluding trade with the EAEC countries). Cereals, fish and seafood, as well as fat-and-oil products and confectionery products, as well as a year earlier, have become the main exported products.

 

Exports of wheat amounted to about 9.6 million tons worth $ 1.7 billion, exceeding the figures of 2017 by 1.5 times, or by $ 620 million. Egypt became the main importer of Russian wheat. Export of soybean oil grew by 29% to 155 thousand tons, rapeseed oil - by 38% to 81 thousand tons, soybeans - by 2.3 times to 343 thousand tons.

 

Q1 2018 continued the trend of increasing exports of chocolate confectionery products in 2017: 29 thousand tons were exported to the amount of $ 82 million, which is 45% more than in the same period of 2017 (41% in monetary terms). China is the leader in import of chocolate confectionery products of Russian production (22.5% of Russian exports).

 

Agro-export and creation of conditions for its development are one of the main directions of further growth in agricultural production. In 2017, agricultural products were exported to the amount of about $ 20.7 billion, which exceeded the planned value by 21.1% ($ 17.1 billion by the end of 2016).
