Russia: New rules for the dairy products sale

From July 1, milk and dairy products are sold under the new rules. Products without milk fat substitutes will be visually indicated, like the one that contains palm oil. Innovations will allow buyers to choose a better product.

Earlier, the chairman of the presidium of the Retail Companies Association Sergey Belyakov clarified that these innovations will help buyers in choosing products, but it is necessary to clarify whether retailers will be responsible, for example, if the buyer himself rearranged the goods to the wrong shelf. The head of Russian Quality System, Maxim Protasov, also believes that the new rules will help buyers make an informed choice. Representatives of retailers assured that they are ready for change.

Earlier, Roscontrol announced shocking data that 60% of the Russian and Belarusian cheese tested by it does not contain animal fats. More than half of them are not made from milk. The basis of most milk counterfeits on the market is palm oil and other vegetable fats.
