Omsk CCI: opportunities for expansion into the Central Asia markets

Prospects for the development of trade and economic partnership of business representatives of Omsk region with companies from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan were discussed during a meeting held on August 29 in the Omsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry (member of Omsky Biocluster).

The basis of Omsk exports to Central Asia is the products of the chemical industry. The smaller volume of exports is: products from ferrous metals; black metals; wood and products from it; as well as dairy products; flour and cereals; confectionery industry. The dominant group of goods in the imports of Omsk region from the Central Asian countries are vegetables and fruits and their processing products, textiles and products from it.

The president of the Omsk regional public organization 'Commonwealth of Uzbeks' Bakhrombek Yusupov noted that at present the Uzbek market is ready to consider export offers from Omsk business on various groups of goods:

"Logistics issues are completely solved: rail and road transport, delivering Uzbek goods to the Omsk market, is not loaded enough in the opposite direction. Perhaps, it will be interesting for businessmen to take part in the creation of a permanent trading house of Omsk commodity producers in Tashkent."

"Russian products are highly valued in Tajikistan," said Inoyatsho Salimov, Chairman of the Council of the Omsk regional public organization 'Commonwealth of Tajiks', addressed to the President of the Omsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry Olga Fedulova.- We need information about what products Omsk businessmen are ready to supply to the Tajik market. Potentially, for example, supplies of building materials. The country's top leadership has decided to develop a multi-storey private housing construction with appropriate state support."

Participants of the event considered various forms of interaction. Summarizing the results of the discussion, Olga Fedulova proposed to monitor the interest of the Omsk business to develop cooperation with the Central Asian countries in various areas: export, import, establishment of trading houses of Omsk manufacturers, attraction of foreign staff to Omsk companies. Based on monitoring results, the participants agreed in early October 2018 to hold a Roundtable with the participation of heads of diasporas and Omsk business. Interested parties will continue a more substantive discussion of the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
