Silk Road passes through the OmSAU

From August 23 to 24, the Omsk State Agrarian University (Omsky Biocluster member) was visited by Dean of the Agronomy Department of Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (Yangling, China), ProfessorShan Weixing  and Dean of the Department of Agriculture of North Kazakhstan State University Altyn Shayakhmetova in order to strengthen and further develop international scientific and academic collaboration. The event was held as part of the Silk Road Agricultural Education and Science and Technology Innovation Alliance.

 

The first day of the guests' stay at the Omsk State Agrarian University included a meeting with teachers from the Faculty of Agriculture. The meeting participants presented information about each other's faculties and scientific interests and discussed ways to develop further cooperation. Then the researchers visited the experimental field, where they got acquainted with the cultures of the West Siberian region and the organization of the selection process of grain and leguminous crops, as well as with varieties of selection of the Omsk State Agrarian University. At the end of the day, a tour of the Omsk took place.

 

The next day, foreign guests visited the Omsk Agricultural Scientific Center, where they met with the head of the potato laboratory, candidate of agricultural sciences Alexander Cheremisin, the head of the breeding center, candidate of agricultural sciences Pyotr Nikolaev. Researchers visited the greenhouse and potato laboratory of the Omsk Agricultural Scientific Center. Based on the results of the meetings, it was decided to deepen mutual collaboration through student mobility and joint research with grant support. The parties also agreed on the possibility of providing their own varieties and collection samples for variety testing at the universities of Omsk State Agrarian University and Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (Yangling, China).
