The quarantine pest - thrips - was identified by specialists from the Quarantine Phytosanitary Examinations and Examination Laboratory of the Omsk Reference Center of the Rosselkhoznadzor (member of Omsky Biocluster) in potted plants brought to Omsk region from the Netherlands.
The quarantine pest - Western (Californian) flower thrips - was found during analyzes of the yellow Spiderman chrysanthemum. This insect is equally dangerous for both flower and ornamental plants, as well as for vegetable crops. Its larva and adult feed on sucking the plant sap. Thrips prevents the formation of full-fledged flowers. The surface of the leaves, populated with thrips, is discolored in the form of strokes, grooves appear in places of feeding, and then necrosis.
Information about the results of the examination of this sample by the experts of the Omsk Reference Center was sent to the Omsk Regional Branch of the Rosselkhoznadzor.
