Russia significantly increased the export of livestock

According to the Rosselkhoznadzor, in 2020 Russia significantly increased the export of live cattle. In January-October, 112,600 head of animals were sent abroad, which is almost 1.5 times more than in the same period last year (77,500). The greatest growth was shown by the supply of pigs, and the export of cattle also increased significantly.

 

For 10 months of 2020, 40,300 live pigs were delivered from Russia abroad, which is 15.4 times more than in the same period last year (2,610). Export volumes have gradually increased since the beginning of the year, then in May-June there was a slight decline in shipments, and since July, shipments began to increase again. Most of the animals were exported in October (7,100 heads). The main importer of live pigs is Georgia, this country accounts for 100% of all supplies.

 

In January-October 2020, Russia sent abroad 12,800 heads of live cattle, which is 10% more than in the same period in 2019 (11,600). The highest supply figures were recorded in October (about 2,900 heads). In general, exports have been growing since the beginning of the year, but in summer there was a decrease in the number of cattle sent abroad. Since September, deliveries have increased again. The main importer of Russian cattle is Azerbaijan (over 67% of the total). 31% of all deliveries come from Uzbekistan. At the same time, the purchases of Russian cattle in Uzbekistan increased 8 times compared to last year.

 

Exports of live small ruminants (SMC) in January-October 2020 amounted to 59,400 heads against 63,200 heads in the same period last year. At the same time, some months showed a significant increase in the number of animals sent abroad. So, in March, 14,500 heads were exported against 1,300 heads in the same month in 2019. In April 2020, this figure was 6,400 against 1,500 in 2019. 7,400 heads of small cattle were exported in October against 130 heads in October last year. Jordan became the main buyer of Russian small ruminants this year (31,500 head), last year no supplies were made to this country. Among the large importers are also Azerbaijan (13,500 heads), Georgia (6,700 heads), Lebanon (6,300 heads).
