The Omsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Omsky Biocluster member) held a Business Branch on the topic 'International Contracts', under the new project 'Business Partnership'. The 2019 format provides for discussion of topical issues for entrepreneurs, advising on the most problematic topics, recommendations of specialists how to protect their business, how to behave during inspections, tax disputes, conclusion of international contracts, other topics.
Omsk entrepreneurs in an informal setting over a cup of coffee discussed issues relating to the design of international contracts. The list of participants included companies engaged in foreign economic activity in various areas: the production of electrical measuring instruments and systems, the production and wholesale of food, the wholesale of machinery and equipment, insurance and finance. The invited experts were the managing partner of the VED law company (Omsk CCI member) Olga Idzon and the firm’s partner Sergey Kozheikin, the chief state customs inspector of the Customs Value Control Department Olesya Sotskaya and the chief specialist of the Currency Control Department of VTB Bank Olga Cheglakova.
Speakers from the VED and Omsk Customs told how to verify the counterparty, what to look for when concluding the contract, how to choose the applicable law, gave examples from dispute resolution practice, and also recommended paying special attention to force majeure. to avoid both temporary and financial losses in the execution of the transaction.
The VTB Bank expert highlighted the issues of currency regulation and currency control. There was an exchange of views and discussion of frequently made mistakes in drawing up a contract. Business representatives had the opportunity to ask the speakers their questions related to the implementation of foreign economic activity and to receive valuable advice from professionals.
