Vaccine against ASF: is it coming soon?

The hopes of the pig breeder for a major scientific breakthrough and the creation of a vaccine against African swine fever virus (ASF) may soon be realized. The US Department of Agriculture announced that it intends to grant the Bulgarian company Huvepharma EOOD an exclusive license for an experimental vaccine against ASF, the official statement said.

 
The condition for granting a provisional exclusive license is that within 30 days from the date of publication of the Notice, the US Department of Agricultural Research will not receive objections with written evidence and arguments. The patent rights of the federal government to this invention are transferred to the United States of America in the person of the Minister of Agriculture. The deadline for commenting on the effectiveness of a new drug is May 22 of this year.
 

 

Research on the creation of a vaccine against the virus is also being conducted at institutes in the EU, Russia, China and other countries that have suffered serious damage as a result of the spread of this infection.
