Cargill closes feed mill

Agricultural and food company Cargill closes the plant for the production of animal feed in the Leningrad region and is negotiating its sale.

 

"As a result of a comprehensive analysis of the situation on the Russian market and the possibilities of animal feed business in Russia, the company’s management decided to close the plant in Volosovo, which will take effect on July 1, 2019," the company said in Interfax. The plant will be closed by the end of June, preparation for closure began in March. Currently, the company is actively negotiating with potential buyers. Cargill plant in Volosovo produced complete feed, feed concentrates, feed mixtures, protein-vitamin-mineral concentrates for farm animals and poultry. The company noted that its work in Russia "is an integral part of a long-term strategy," the business of feeding animals continues to grow. Cargill conducts technical updates at its enterprises, expands the range of products and services, which "confirms the company's desire to compete successfully in the Russian market."

 

Cargill supplies food, agricultural, financial and industrial goods and services. In Russia, the company sells grain and oilseeds, produces vegetable oils and fats, poultry products, fodder, molasses and starch products. According to Rusagrotrans, in this MY (from July 2018 to April 2019), the company exported 2.091 million tons of Russian grain, taking the fourth place in the ranking of leading Russian traders.
