Omsky Biocluster implements environmental education program

Sputnik Children's Health Camp holds a competition of environmental projects "WE!: The Green Planet". Support for the competition is provided by the Chernoluchye Administration, Omsk regional branch of the Russian Environmental Movement. The purpose of the competition is to foster a caring attitude to nature, the formation of an ecological culture of the younger generation, an active citizenship to preserve the environment and human health, and the involvement of children and youth in environmental activities. Omsky Biocluster has become the title partner of the eco-contest.

In total, more than 150 applications were received for the competition, in which kids told and showed in edited videos about specific cases in defense of the environment.

Igor Popov, Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk region:

"We didn’t expect our competition to generate such interest! The main thing I want to note is that all the kids participating in the competition showed indifference to environmental problems. Each of us has the opportunity to take a small step towards reducing the burden on the environment, and our children understand that ecology begins with everyone."

The winners were determined in several nominations. The winners are:

  • Sizonenko Maxim, 9 years old, and Vintenko Egor, 13 years old, shared the 1st place in the 'Use of Renewable Resources' nomination,
  • Malinovskaya Alina, 12 years old, 1st place in the 'Environmental Initiative' nomination,
  • Kozlov Vladimir, 9 years old, 1st place in the 'Creative Approach to Ecology' nomination,
  • Belmesova Ekaterina, 10 years old, 1st place in the 'Planet without Garbage' nomination.

The Omsky Biocluster CEO Dmitry Romanenko:

"Omsky Biocluster has consistently advocated reducing the burden on the environment. This competition became pilot and, of course, successful in terms of children's interest in environmental issues. Omsk children not only understand that ecology begins with them, but also make concrete efforts to protect nature!".
