The Ministry of Agriculture relies on small farms

According to Vladimir Plotnikov, President of the Association of Peasant Farms and Agricultural Cooperatives of Russia (AKKOR), over the past ten years, the sown area on farms has been increasing by almost 1 million hectares annually. For grain, the share of farmers is 29.5%, sunflower 35%.

According to the chairman of the board of RusAg (Omsk branch is the Omsky Biocluster member) Boris Listov, the contribution of farmers in 1992 to agricultural production was only 1%, according to the results of last year it was 14%. According to RusAg forecasts, in the next five years the figure will increase to 18-20%. According to Listov, farmers are able to solve economic and social problems on an equal footing with agricultural holdings.

Vladimir Kashin, chairman of the State Duma's Agrarian Committee, believes that farms have large growth reserves in many areas: from honey production to poultry and beef. It is impossible without farmers to solve the global task of involving abandoned lands in agricultural circulation, of which there are currently about 40 million hectares in Russia. According to Kashin's estimates, they could grow another 100 million tons of grain.
