In the new season, the proportion of grain with high protein content in the Black Sea wheat (both Russian and Ukrainian) will increase, which may lead to higher prices for fodder and low protein wheat, reports UkrAgroConsult, citing Black Sea traders.
The first results of harvesting in both Russia and Ukraine showed that the proportion of high-protein grain increased significantly. Food and feed wheat in Ukraine on average over the years is correlated in the proportion of 60/40. In the new season, excluding spring wheat, the ratio is still forming 80/20, some experts say. But still more modest estimates of the share of food grains prevail: 65-70%. Ukraine usually exports fodder wheat and wheat with a protein of 11.5%, but in the coming season, wheat is likely to be exported, mainly wheat with a protein content of 12.5% and possibly higher. Thus, Ukraine will directly compete with Russia in wheat markets of similar quality.
