The production of confectionery products for the year increased by 2.5%

The production of all types of confectionery products in Russia last year increased by 2.5%, to 3.63 million tons. This is reported by the Confectionery Market Research Center, referring to Rosstat data.

 

The best situation is in the segment of chocolate products, the output of which has increased by 8% and reached 710 thousand tons, the crisis has seriously affected the production of chocolate, it has significantly risen in price. Meanwhile, until the end of 2016, a segment of flour confectionery products of long shelf life (for example, biscuits, wafers, muffins and gingerbreads) provided a positive dynamics in the production of confectionery products. In 2017, the output of all types of flour confectionery products of long and short shelf life increased by 5.7%, to 1.85 million tons. Production of sugary confectionery products fell by almost 3%, to 1.07 million tons. The experts associate the growth of confectionery production with the restoration of sweet consumption in the domestic market and with the growth of export supplies.
