The volume of production of cheeses and cheese products in Russia in 2017 amounted to 643.6 thousand tons, butter and oil pastes produced 269.4 thousand tons. Such data are given in the speech of the head of All-Russian Research Institute of Metrological Service Elena Topnikova at the All-Russian week of cheese & butter making in Uglich, writes The DairyNews.
"At the same time, in January-April 2018, the dynamics of cheese and cheese production showed an increase of 2.5% compared to the same period of 2010. Butter production grew by 4.1%," Elena Topnikova said.
Import of cheeses and butter in the Russian Federation continues to decline. According to the data of 2018, the supply of cheeses decreased by 10.1% at the beginning of the year, and butter - by 28%. Last year, cheese imports in Russia amounted to 222.9 thousand tons, butter - 89.7 thousand tons.
