Burkov asked Patrushev for exporting grain from the region

December 5, the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dmitry Patrushev met with the Governor of Omsk Region Alexander Burkov, during which the parties discussed the results of harvesting in the region, the development of exports of agricultural products, as well as issues of state support for agricultural producers.

As Dmitry Patrushev noted, Omsk region has a high potential for the agroproduction and is one of the largest grain producers in the Siberian Federal District and in general in Russia. This year the harvest of grain and leguminous plants in the region amounted to 3.4M tons, this is the second result in the district after the Altai Territory. At the same time, in terms of barley harvest, the region is the leader in the Siberian Federal District, the harvest of this crop in 2018 grew by 7%, to 639K tons. Positive dynamics is observed in the cultivation of other crops: soybeans, rapeseed, potatoes, vegetables.

The production growth allows farmers not only to provide their own agricultural products to the domestic market, but also to supply it abroad. According to the data of the end of November of the current year, Omsk agricultural producers increased the export of agricultural products by a quarter compared to last year. The volume of deliveries amounted to about $ 140M. Sales markets are not only neighboring countries, like Kazakhstan and Georgia, but also China, the Netherlands, and Israel.

Wheat and barley account for the largest share of agricultural exports in the region. Alexander Burkov suggested considering, as an additional incentive for the development of this direction, the possibility of granting grain benefits to Omsk farmers for the railway transportation of their products.
