Since January 31, the Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed temporary restrictions on the supply of pigs and pork products to Russia in connection with the detection of outbreaks of African swine fever in Mongolia.
As specified, the ban prohibits the supply to the territory of the Russian Federation of live pigs, finished pork products, technological equipment used in the pig industry, etc. It is also prohibited to transit live pigs from Mongolia through Russia.
According to experts, the ban will not have any significant impact on the commodity market of Russia - the supply of Mongolian pork to the Russian Federation is negligible and concentrated, rather, in cross-border trade. A much greater danger is the discovery of the next ASF focus near the Russian borders.
