Russian scientists invented a new bio additive

Russian scientists came up with how to enrich the nutrition of farm animals with digestible proteins and carbohydrates. Answer: use of alcohol production waste. According to the authors, the new additive is suitable for poultry, fish, cattle and bees. It helps to achieve an increase in the mass of the animal with a decrease in feed consumption, DairyNews.ru reports.

"Vegetable food is poor in proteins, which are necessary for the animal's organism. Our technology allows us to obtain highly effective feeds with an accessible amino acid composition and good digestibility," said the deputy director of VNIIPBT Elena Serba.

Tests showed that the use of the developed additive in the cultivation of cattle allows to increase the growth of live weight by 11%, while the feed costs for weight gain of 1 kg is reduced by 8%. The level of profitability of beef production can be increased by 6%. Chickens, when fed with enriched food, began to carry eggs with increased levels of nutrients: for example, selenium content increased by 56%, and vitamin E - by 63%. It has also been established that the bioadditives have a positive effect on the egg-laying of the queen bees of the Carpathian breed. A positive effect was also observed when feeding sturgeon fry: their mass increased by 20-55%.

Chairman of the Meat Union of Russia Mushegh Mamikonyan considers the development potentially commercially successful:

"Any discoveries that increase the mass of animals and increase the efficiency of production, are in demand. Such an additive will find demand in the industry, but the authors should offer it to market participants. First of all it is necessary to patented the technology."
