The power of agricultural machinery is decreasing in Russia

The energy capacity of agricultural machinery in Russia is falling. In 2017, they amounted to 90.2 million hp, which is lower than the indicators for 2016 by 2.3%, and indicators for 2012 - by 12%. The number of units at the end of 2017 also decreased - tractors by 3% compared to 2016, combine harvesters - by 2.8%, forage harvesters - by 4.4%, seeders - by 5.6%.

As Director of the Department of Plant Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia Petr Chekmarev noted, energy capacity affects the yield. Yield in the advanced countries is 50-60 centners /HA of grain crops, and in Russia - about half as much. The Ministry of Agriculture estimated that an average of 1 thousand hectares of arable land in Russia accounts for 2 tractors and 1.6 combine-harvesters. For comparison, in Belarus - 9.3 tractors and 5 combine-harvesters, in Germany - 65 tractors and 11.5 combine-harvesters, in the USA - 25.9 and 17.9, in Canada - 16 and 7.

The leaders in the energy capacity of agricultural machinery among the Siberian regions in 2017 are Altai Territory (3.5 million hp), Novosibirsk region (2.5 million hp) and Krasnoyarsk Territory (2.4 million hp).
