Scientists of Omsk State Agrarian University (member of Omsky Biocluster) conducted a soil survey and created a classification of fallow lands in Sargatsky district of Omsk region.
February 2, a team of OmSAU scientists visited Sargatsky district. Consultations were conducted based on the results of the study 'Development and Implementation of Technology for the Restoration of Unused Land in Omsk Region" funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region. The meeting was attended by the head of the district, heads of rural settlements, deputies, heads of agrarian enterprises and farmers of Sargatsky municipal district, the press.
The official part of the event was opened by the head of Sargatsky district Vladimir Khokhlov, who stressed the importance for the area of work done by OmSAU scientists, which was held throughout 2017 and was implemented for the first time in Omsk region. Vice-rector for scientific work of OmSAU, PhD in Economic sciences Vitaly Aleshchenko in his opening speech told the audience about the large amount of work that the University has been carrying out jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region for a number of years, shared the plans of Omsk scientists.
The main report was made by the candidate of biological sciences Marat Shayakhmetov, the head of the collective of the soil management laboratory of OmSAU. The developed technologies in the field of remote sensing of the Earth and GIS technologies on the basis of OmSAU allowed in 2017 to conduct a full soil survey of the territory of the district, to create a pilot classification of fallow lands in Siberia, to identify areas for the reintroduction of fertile lands into agricultural turnover.
The Sargatsky district was the first in the Omsk region to receive electronic cartographic material of the land structure, which will allow in the future to conduct online monitoring of land and rational use of land resources. After answering numerous questions, University scientists installed the necessary software and conducted the first master class on the basics of using a new electronic resource. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on a three-day training of staff of the administration and heads of farms of Sargatsky district in Omsk State Agrarian University in March 2018.
