The export of Russian pig production increased by 34%

Following the results of 2017, the export of Russian pig production increased by 34.2% compared to the same period of last year and amounted to 71.0 thousand tonnes, deliveries were made to CIS countries and foreign countries. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, by the results of 2017 the production of pigs for slaughter in live weight in farms of all categories amounted to 4.57 million tons, which is 5% higher than in 2016.

 

In total, since 2000 the number of pigs has increased 1.5 times. The industrial sector is the main segment of pig production - 82.3% of the total. At the end of 2017, farms of all categories contain 23.3 million pigs.

 

In 2017, the production of pigs for slaughter in live weight in agricultural organizations increased by 7.4% and amounted to 3.76 million tons. Leading regions to ensure production growth are Pskov (+46.2 thousand tons), Kursk (+45.5 thousand tons), Voronezh (+36.5 thousand tons), Belgorod (+29.2 thousand tons) tons), Tver (+18.8 thousand tons), Tambov (+18.2 thousand tons) regions.

 

Consumption of pork in 2017 per capita reached 24.2 kg. The share of pigs for slaughter in live weight in the total production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight was 32.1%. At the end of 2017, the supply of meat and meat products produced by the domestic agroindustry exceeded 90%.
