Sowing campaign in Omsk region: chances are still there

Sowing campaign in Omsk region is gaining momentum. As of June 6, spring crops were planted on an area of 2,022 thousand hectares (72.9% of the plan).

 

The Minister of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region Maxim Chekusov noted that Omsk region in the rate of sowing campaign among the Siberian Federal District is on the fourth place. "In general, the shoots are even in the region, there is enough moisture, so the farmers have all the chances to finish the sowing campaign before the end of the week, and for this it is necessary to make every effort," he said.

 

Now more than 2m hectares or 72.9% of the plan of spring crops have been sown in the region. It remains to sow 750 hectares. Spring wheat was grown on an area of 1.2m hectares (80.6% of the plan). The sowing of oilseeds was carried out on the area of 260.8 thousand hectares (96.3% of the plan), in 2017 - 179.9 thousand hectares (103%). This was due to an increase in this year's area of oilseeds by 95.4 thousand hectares, which will amount to 269.8 thousand hectares.
