The Russian Export Center (REC) sees no objective obstacles to the supply of soybean meal from the Russian Federation to China. This was announced on November 6 by the REC CEO Andrei Slepnev during a business mission to China.
"We recently discussed the issue of soybean meal. It is very important for livestock, China buys a large amount of soybean. Soybean meal from Russia, firstly, is not genetically modified, we do not use GMOs. And we have it supplied to many countries, including in Japan. And if it is allowed in Japan, then why can't it be delivered, for example, to China?" said Slepnev. "This issue needs to be resolved, to negotiate and quickly reach an agreement. If desired, this issue can be resolved within six months. This is a simple topic," added the REC CEO.
At the same time, it is unclear how the export of soybean meal to the China will be reflected in the domestic feed and livestock production. If the total production of soybean meal in Russia remains at the existing level, the new export stream may well lead to an increase in the cost of meal for Russian compound feed manufacturers.
