Omsk agrarians will be compensated for the costs of grain rail transportation

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia selected regions with a significant balance surplus of grain. As for Omsk region, its inclusion in the list (only 13 regions) is associated with a 30.4% increase in grain reserves by the start of the 2017/18 season.

The president of the National Union of Grain Producers Pavel Skurikhin noted that the surplus affects the price performance in domestic regional markets. In addition, the cost of transporting grain by rail from selected regions to export ports is significant:

- Compensation of the railway tariff helps to realize the principle of equal access to export markets for grain producers in the country. Using the given privilege, agrarians will be able to export a part of surplus grain abroad, and this will allow to stabilize and raise prices in the regional markets.

According to experts, the new subsidy will raise the price of grain in Omsk region by 700-1600 rubles per ton ($ 12-27.38). In the current year, the federal budget expects to allocate 1 billion rubles ($ 17.11 million) due to the redistribution of funds between the directions of the state program for the development of agriculture.
