Rosselkhoznadzor (at the request of the World Trade Organization) abolished the ban on the importation into the Russian Federation of live pigs, pork and other pig products from EU countries since December 6. This was stated by the representative of the agency Yulia Melano, the agency TASS reported.
"We have since today recognized as invalid the acts prohibiting the importation of pigs and pig products from EU countries due to outbreaks of ASF," Yulia Melano said. At the same time, she clarified that the Rosselkhoznadzor does not expect deterioration of the situation with the ASF in Russia, while there is a political ban on the import of these products (food embargo). "But we must understand that after the lifting of the political ban, there will be a threat to Russian pig production," added Melano.
