The press service of Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) reports that Russia and Argentina have reached an agreement in principle on admission of Argentine soybean to the Russian market. The agreements were reached during the meeting of the representatives of the Rosselkhoznadzor and the National Service for Phytosanitary and Veterinary Surveillance of Argentina (SENASA).
According to the parties' agreements, Argentine oilseeds will be allowed to enter Russia when the goods are shipped to an enterprise that has the technology of depriving the vitality of harmful quarantine objects in the embryonic stage. Russia will shortly send a list of these importing companies to SENASA. "The further development of trade in this direction will depend on the interest of the business of the two countries," the Rosselkhoznadzor noted.
Experts believe that, most likely, the import of soybeans from Argentina does not really affect prices in the domestic market due to the stable growth of the livestock sector in Russia.
