The Russian Antimonopoly Service approved the merger of Bayer with Monsanto

The international chemical and pharmaceutical concern Bayer will create a Technology Transfer Center in Russia. The company will transfer a bank of genetic data on the creation of new varieties of crops, as well as provide access to a mass of information in the field of digital agriculture, Izvestia reports.

 

Such an agreement was reached between the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia and Bayer in exchange for agreeing a merger transaction with Monsanto (a global producer of GMOs, the USA). Bayer is required to obtain the approval of all the key antitrust authorities of the world - the USA, Canada, Europe, the BRICS countries, including Russia, to complete the transaction.
