According to the results of the XVI Forum of interregional cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, Alexander Burkov announced plans to launch a R&D Center for Accelerated Breeding. As a result of the project, partners from neighboring Kazakhstan will be able to receive new varieties of grain crops.
The Governor of the Omsk region Alexander Burkov noted:
"On elite seeds, Omsk State Agrarian University (Omsky Biocluster member - Ed.) successfully cooperates with eleven research institutes of Kazakhstan. Next year we are ready to jointly launch a R&D Center for Accelerated Breeding. The unique genetic bank of grain crops collected in Omsk from 15 countries will become our common heritage. Kazakhstan partners will be able to receive new varieties in an accelerated time within two to three years. These varieties are highly productive and disease resistant."
