Russia and China agreed to open markets for agricultural products

Russia and China have agreed on the consistent opening of agricultural markets for each other, said in a statement that the leaders of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping signed following the talks in Beijing.

 

Among the tasks facing the countries, the document names "deepening cooperation in agriculture, the consistent opening of markets for mutual access of agricultural products, intensifying cooperation in the field of inspection and quarantine to ensure veterinary and phytosanitary security, as well as food safety." Leaders also agreed on the need to actively promote practical cooperation in such areas as investment in agriculture, trade in agricultural products and processing, fisheries, agricultural science and technology.

 

The parties stated that they consider urgent tasks in the bilateral sphere the creation of a new and modernization of the existing cross-border transport infrastructure, the facilitation of the formation of favorable conditions for accelerating customs clearance, the increase in the volume of transit traffic from China through Russia, the development of international transport routes and corridors passing through the territories of the two countries.

 

The leaders also agreed to continue work on linking the construction of the Eurasian Economic Union and the 'One Belt, One Way' project.
