Summer: special attention to products

Experts of veterinary supervision of the Rosselkhoznadzor (Omsk Branch) during the inspections constantly record violations of sanitary norms and rules for the sale of perishable goods. The buyer can go to a meat counter in a well-known supermarket to ask a simple question: "Who is the manufacturer?". The seller will not be able to give an answer. Although the cost of products is constantly growing, quality is often not very high.

In January, the Expert Veterinary Laboratory of the Omsk Reference Center of the Rosselkhoznadzor (member of Omsky Biocluster) detected pathogenic microorganisms (listeria) in the sample of beef meat.

According to the results of 2017, specialists of the Omsk Reference Center of the Rosselkhoznadzor found listeria in 12 samples of animal products. The total bacterial contamination of samples of meat and dairy products was exceeded in 18 cases. Regardless of the quality of control of sellers, buyers of livestock products should be very careful.

Specialists of the Expert Veterinary Laboratory of the Omsk Reference Center report that cases of detection of poor-quality, and sometimes dangerous to human health products, are not rare. Meat products are of poor quality most often. It is not necessary to purchase suspicious goods with expired shelf life and without veterinary accompanying documents, in particular, the Omsk Reference Center test report. The document is issued after appropriate laboratory tests.

The number of complaints from citizens for overdue and suspicious products in large supermarkets does not decrease. Specialists of the state veterinary supervision conducted checks on the facts of selling poor-quality fish in two well-known stores. The samples of the products will be analyzed, and the relevant decisions will be made according to the results.

For information: bodies of state veterinary supervision have the right, in cases of violation of veterinary legislation, to suspend or prohibit the production, storage, transportation and sale of livestock products. If the buyer has a suspicion that the product is of poor quality, an analysis is necessary. This can be done at Omsk Reference Center of the Rosselkhoznadzor.
