Kazakhstan plans to harvest 18 million tons of grain

The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Saparkhan Omarov announced the forecast for the harvest. According to the Minister, Kazakhstan will harvest about 18 million tons of grain. Now, Kazakh farmers have threshed 11.5 million tons of grain, which is 63% of the harvested area, last year this figure was 34%.

 

According to Omarov, most of the crop will be exported:

"This year, we estimate the export potential at 7-8 million tons of grain and flour in grain equivalent. The main directions of export are our traditional partners: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Iran. We plan to increase the export of grain and flour to China. This year, as I have already said, we plan to harvest 18 million tons of grain, and this volume of grain will be exported to these markets."

 

Also, Saparkhan Omarov announced the approximate time frame for the creation of the Concept of the National Program for the Agroindustry Development. "The draft of the Concept of the National Program for the Agroindustry Development is a very serious document, therefore there will be discussion with all associations and farmers, the business community. We plan that the initial draft of this program will be ready by May next year," he concluded.
