Kazakhstan imposed a ban on the rent of agricultural land by foreigners. Now foreign citizens can not use or lease agricultural land in Kazakhstan, even if the foreign share in the company is only 1%. Previously, foreigners were allowed to lease land for up to ten years.
The ban applies to foreigners, stateless persons and citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who are spouses of foreigners. On the other hand, citizens of Kazakhstan can rent land for free for up to 49 years. Providing applicants with a detailed business plan and confirming the availability of the necessary equipment for agricultural production, as well as knowledge of technology are necessary conditions for a positive decision.
