McDonald’s, together with Neste and HAVI, intends to process the oil used for cooking french fries to low-carbon fuel.
A joint project is being implemented in the Netherlands. According to reports, HAVI will collect used oil, and Neste will process it to fuel. This will happen at a refinery in Rotterdam. Fuel is planned to be used in HAVI trucks, which deliver products to 252 fast-food restaurants in the Netherlands.
Representatives of Neste, a leading supplier of renewable diesel fuel, said that the fuel obtained through processing will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 90% compared with fossil fuels.
