Foot and mouth disease was detected at the Rusagro pig farm in Primorye

"Rusagro Group reports confirming on January 11, 2019 of a case of infection by the FMDV virus of animals kept at one of the company's pig farms in the Primorsky Territory," Rusagro reports. Due to the outbreak of the disease, 481 animals will be destroyed and quarantine activities carried out.

 
 
"This event will not affect the timing of the commencement of commodity production and shipment of products to consumers. Losses for the company are insignificant," the report says. Rusagro Group is the second largest producer of sugar in Russia, the third producer of pork, a major producer of mayonnaise, butter and margarine. Rusagro Group includes more than 35 agricultural enterprises, 9 sugar factories, an oil extraction plant and a fat plant, controls 686K hectares of land.
