Since April 10, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) temporarily prohibits the supply of pigs and pig products from Belarus in connection with the spread of African swine fever (ASF), the Russian Service said.
"Due to the fixation of eight cases of detection of the genetic material of the African swine fever virus (ASF) in the finished meat products of Belarus, Rosselkhoznadzor is forced to introduce temporary restrictions on the supply of pig products from all over Belarus from April 10, 2018," Rosselkhoznadzor said. Restrictions apply to live pigs and their genetic material, pork and raw pork meat products, as well as offal, finished products from pork or containing pork in the composition, raw materials from pork used for the production of feeds, except for goods processed by technology that destroys the virus ASF. The ban applies to the supply of wild boar meat, horn&hoof, leather, intestinal raw materials, bristles, hunting trophies from virus-sensitive animal species that have not undergone complete taxidermy treatment, and all types of pig feed and feed additives, except for additives for chemical and microbiological synthesis and prepared feeds, subjected to thermal treatment. Restrictions will operate until the epizootic situation in Belarus is clarified.
