In 2017, Russia exports agricultural products to $ 20.5 billion

Export deliveries of Russian agricultural products in 2017 will grow by 20 percent compared to last year and amount to $ 20.5 billion. This forecast was voiced by the director of the SovEcon Analytical Center Andrei Sizov at the Agroholdings of Russia - 2017 Conference.

The growth of agriculture observed today is, first of all, the result of successful export activity. The maximum growth by the end of the year could be 3 percent, Sizov said, noting that this is certainly a good, but modest result, compared with 2016 and almost 5 percent increase.

The expert believes that the main reasons for the slowdown in the growth rate of the industry are the strengthened ruble and the grain that fell in price against the backdrop of a record harvest. Andrei Sizov also predicted a slowdown in the growth rate of investment in the agro-industrial complex in 2017. The main problem of business, according to the analyst, is stagnation of demand for foodstuffs with stabilization of incomes of the population.

Despite the growth of export of agricultural products abroad, Russia's share in world exports remains insignificant. Last year, the largest global exporters were became the US and the EU (over $ 130 billion), Brazil and China (more than $ 60 billion), Sizov specified.
