The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia will act as a regulator of the dairy market

April 11, the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Dzhambulat Khatuov, held a meeting at which the current situation in the dairy market was considered within the Extraordinary Congress of the National Union of Dairy Producers.

Welcoming the participants of the meeting - the heads of the largest milk processing enterprises and industry associations - Dzhambulat Khatuov emphasized the importance of the issues discussed for the development of the dairy industry as a whole. "Today, we see a consolidated position of the business community about the situation in the Russian dairy market, as well as the cost of milk and the trade balance with the main supplier of dried milk, the Republic of Belarus, to the measures of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia aimed at stabilizing the market. We have begun consultations with the Republic of Belarus on the balance of mutual supplies, the formation of a model for the development of the industry in the medium term and the development of mechanisms to protect the agricultural producer from unreasonable price fluctuations, "said Dzhambulat Khatuov.

The First Deputy Minister noted that the Ministry has all the information on the movement of dairy products in the country, and the profile departments carried out a detailed analysis of the figures obtained for several years and worked out the forecast prices. "Milk powder and butter for the food and processing industry are like oil and gas for other industries, so we must rely on verified balances, which should be helped by business oriented to long-term - 3-5 years - contracts with manufacturers. This will greatly strengthen the industry and the opportunities for civilized regulation of the market," Dzhambulat Khatuov said.
