The volume of online trading in Russia is growing

The volume of online sales of food and ready-made food for the year has doubled, due to residents of large cities. Moscow became the leader of orders, accounting for 45% of the market. St. Petersburg is in second place with 10%, according to the Association of E-commerce Companies.

 

 

Most often, Russians order frozen and dairy products, chilled meat and poultry, as well as fresh vegetables, fruits and greens. Unusual orders include lactose-free milk, low-calorie jams, and gluten-free flour. Prepared food is mainly ordered by office workers and residents of megalopolises. In this case, the average check when ordering food home caught up with the check when visiting cafes and fast food restaurants. The leaders in popularity among orders are pizza, sushi rolls and burgers.

 

Thus, the delivery of food and ready-made food competes with a visit to the restaurant and cooking homemade food. The main reason is the change in food consumption culture.
