The talks between Russia and China on the opening of livestock markets are beginning to give the first practical results, Deputy Agriculture Minister Sergei Levin said at a session of the Eastern Economic Forum 'Integration of the Agriculture Sector of the Far East into the Food System of the Asia-Pacific Region.'
According to him, the parties conduct such negotiations, including in Vladivostok. "The work that we have been doing for the last three years is beginning to give the first practical results. We start to look at this issue with much more optimism, because the first two protocols have already been agreed with the Chinese party," Levin said. "I will note that these are the first documents," he added, expressing confidence that in the future this work will be more successful.
Earlier it was reported that the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Chinese party during the meeting on September 4-7 in Sochi discussed the procedure for signing protocols on the terms of mutual supplies of poultry meat and dairy products. According to the Russian service, China's position on the readiness to lift restrictions for Russian regions that are free of foot and mouth disease has seriously changed after the analysis of risks. As explained in the Rosselkhoznadzor, the procedure will open the possibility of delivering beef and venison from Russia to China, and will also allow lifting the restriction on import of boneless cattle meat from Russia, which was introduced in connection with outbreaks of nodular dermatitis.
