In 2018, the state support of the agro-industry will be increased by 10%, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said at the regional agrarian conference in Stavropol on Tuesday. "It was decided to increase support from the federal budget this year by about 10% compared to last year," he said.
At present, the state support of the industry for 2018 is at the level of last year - in the amount of 242 billion rubles ($ 4.25 billion).
According to Arkady Dvorkovich, additional funds will be directed to support new investment projects, farms, to renew the fleet of agricultural machinery. "So far, this problem (updating equipment - Ed.) remains very acute compared to the high that was achieved in the mid-eighties, when the agricultural machinery was being updated at a rapid pace," he said. "We are about half as low now."
As the Deputy Prime Minister specified, the state support of the industry will also go through regional budgets. "We will allocate unrelated subsidies that the regions can use, in fact, at their discretion, based on an understanding of what is necessary for agriculture," Dvorkovich said. "We will not in any case reduce the state support, so we will continue to support profitable agricultural production at an acceptable level," the vice-premier stressed.
