REC proposes to subsidize railway transportations in covered wagons and cisterns

The Russian Export Center (REC) proposed to expand the compensation program to 50% of the exporters' costs for transportation of agricultural products by land transport. The REC proposes to extend subsidies for transport not only in containers, but also in covered wagons and tanks (transportation of groceries and oils).

In total in 2017 the government allocated 100 million rubles for these purposes. (the program is being implemented since September). Experts believe that the additions will require in the future to allocate from the budget at least 500 million rubles ($ 8,434.45 million). As Mikhail Mamonov, Managing Director for International Projects Organization of the REC, explained, mainly we are talking about export routes to China. Manufacturers for whom transportation in containers is impossible or unprofitable and which would benefit from using covered wagons and cisterns, are interested in adjusting the terms of subsidies. Therefore, the REC together with the Ministry of Agriculture has studied the issue of expanding the types of railway cars, now the proposals are being considered by the government.
