Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev during a meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced the conditions for the transfer of commercial loans taken by agrarians to a preferential rate.
"The Ministry of Agriculture proposes to allow commercial loans to be transferred to a preferential rate, provided that the tax arrears do not exceed 5% of the value of the borrower's net assets," Tkachev said. At the same time, he said, the borrower is obliged to provide a copy of the payment to the bank to pay off the debt.
The Minister also reported that the Ministry of Agriculture in 2018 has 13 billion rubles ($ 226 million) for new short-term loans, which will be enough only to provide loans for spring field work. As of February 5, the Ministry of Agriculture approved preferential short-term loans to three thousand borrowers for a total of 135 billion rubles ($ 2356.66 million) and subsidies in the amount of 8.5 billion rubles ($ 147.78 million), which is three times higher than the figure for the same date in 2017.
