The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia will add subsidies to carriers of Siberian grain

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation is currently preparing proposals not only to extend the mechanism for subsidizing grain transport from remote regions, but also plans to propose steps to improve it. This was stated to journalists in Krasnodar by Anatoly Kutsenko, Director of the Department of Economics, Investments, Regulation of Agroindustry Markets of the Ministry of Agriculture, Interfax reported.

"This is an effective method, but we will try not to just renew the railway tariff, but to compensate for the payment for two federal districts (Siberian and Urals)." We want the grain price in these districts to be higher and reach the level of the Central Federal District, " - said the director of the department. Speaking about the amount of funds that may be required to implement this mechanism in the future, A. Kutsenko said that the planned for this year 3 billion rubles ($ 52.69 million) "more than enough".

"The market situation will determine everything. If the harvest is 100 million tons, then why should we export grain, we will not stimulate it, the market itself will react by raising prices in these federal districts," he said. Also A. Kutsenko added that the ministry still has enough time to make a final decision on this issue, since mass harvesting of grain in Siberia will begin only in late September - early October.
