Omsk region is trying to control the grain export

Alexander Burkov discussed with the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev the problems of illegal grain export. A meeting on tracking and accounting for the export of agricultural products and grain from the territory of the Russian Federation, in particular, was held online.

Omsk region is one of the largest grain producers in the country. Gross grain harvest in the region is more than 3,000,000 tons per year, about half is exported outside the region during the year. According to the Rosselkhoznadzor, the export of Omsk grain last year amounted to 510,000 tons, including 244,000 tons to Kazakhstan.

Governor Alexander Burkov spoke about measures taken to curb attempts to illegally export grain outside the country. "In March 2020, the commission on combating illegal trafficking in industrial products decided to control the export of grain to Kazakhstan. Together with law enforcement agencies, we have established such a procedure that transport passes through border posts will be carried out only after checking the accompanying documents by the Rosselkhoznadzor. And I’ll say right away that for one and a half months of this work, not in the most active period of grain sales, we stopped 214 facts of grain export without phytosanitary certificates. If we talk about the problem as a whole, then, according to our forecasts, in the period after the harvest (from September to December) more than 200,000 tons of grain are exported only through the Russia-Kazakhstan border. Accordingly, we do not get at least $ 30 million under the federal project 'Export of Agricultural Products", said Alexander Burkov.
