Compound feed consumption in China will decrease by 17% this year, however, next season there will be a rebound of 8%, as the pig industry will gradually begin to recover from the effects of African swine fever (ASF), according to Rabobank report.
According to official statistics, compound feeds for pigs account for 54% of the total demand for them in China, 35% account for compound feeds for poultry and 18% for cattle. Analysts predict that the production of feed for pigs in China may be reduced by 40% due to the further spread of ASF. At the same time, the industry is on the verge of consolidation, in which small farms using various feeds of their own preparation leave the market. In the long run, this will lead to serious structural changes in the industry, Rabobank experts say.
